Two more Xiaomi devices have received the May security patch update. The Redmi Note 8 and Note 8T users have started getting the latest security update. The update is being rolled in some regions. The update brings software version V126.96.36.199.PCOINXM to Redmi Note 8 and V188.8.131.52.PCXMIXM to Redmi Note 8T
The update is being rolled out via OTA and in a phased manner. The update brings loads of fixes which were found in the previous build. The update is more focused towards the performance improvements. The latest update reduces the system lag.
Sadly, the update is still based on Android 9 Pie. Users were waiting for the release of Android 10 but it looks like they have to wait for little more. The current update is a beta update but it is available to all the beta tester across the globe.
You can manually check the software update on your device whether it’s available on your device or not. Only the person who have opted for beta testing will be getting it via OTA, others can manually flash the update.
Head over to the device Settings –> About Phone –> Check for Software Update. The update will be rolled out globally in an incremental manner and it should take some time to appear on all the units.
- Take a backup of all your data just to be on the safe side if any incident happens.
- USB Debugging must be enabled.
- Make sure that the device has more than 50% battery percentage.
